Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026.
At Farm to Fork SK, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
From visitors
If you use our contact form, suggest an edit, or report a listing, we collect the name, email address and message or details you provide.
From business owners and submitters
If you list a business or claim a listing, we collect the business details you provide (name, location, products, contact links) and the email address used to verify your claim. Where a listing starts from public information rather than an owner submission, we also keep the source URL and a short snippet behind each published fact, so every fact on the site can be traced back to where it came from.
Farmers markets and their vendors
If you manage a farmers market page, we keep the email you sign in with; it isn't shown on your page, and messages sent through your page's contact form are forwarded to it. A market can keep its own vendor list here, including vendors who aren't listed, with an email and notes only that market can see. When a producer is on the vendor list of a market with Market Premium, that market can see the email the producer signs in with, so it can contact them about the market. Producers are told this when they join, and can turn it off, or give one market a different email, at any time from their dashboard. Markets never see claim contacts or the emails of people who suggested a listing.
Newsletter subscribers
We keep the email address, consent date and consent source for anyone who subscribes to updates, so we can honour unsubscribe requests correctly.
Automatically collected
We count listing page views and contact-link clicks to show producers how their listing performs. To tell visitors apart, we use a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and browser type, which changes every day. We don't store your IP address itself, and these counts aren't tied to your identity or use cookies.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used overall, such as which pages are popular and how visitors find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your approximate location, device and browser. Seehow Google uses this information. You can opt out with theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How claim contacts are found
When a listing is built from public information, an email address that appears publicly on the business's own website, Instagram bio or a directory listing may be used to invite that business to claim its listing. That address, and where it was found, is kept internally to make claiming faster — it is never shown publicly and never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
How we use your information
- Operate the directory and display business listings and contact information
- Verify claims and respond to suggested edits or removal requests
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support
- Send the newsletter, if you've subscribed, and honour unsubscribe requests
- Understand how the site is used and improve it, using our own counts and Google Analytics
- Comply with legal obligations
Information sharing
We don't sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties, except:
- Public business listings: information you submit for a business listing is displayed publicly, by design.
- Farmers markets: if you're on a market's vendor list and it has Market Premium, that market sees your sign-in email (or another email you choose), unless you turn sharing off on your dashboard.
- Service providers: trusted providers who help us operate the site (such as our email delivery provider and Google Analytics).
- Legal requirements: if required by law or to protect our rights.
Data retention
We keep submitter and claim information as long as the related listing is active, plus a reasonable period to resolve disputes, and delete or anonymize it after that unless we're required to keep it longer.
Your rights and choices
- Access: ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal requirements.
- Opt-out: unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Children's privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will post changes here with an updated "Last updated" date.
