Visit a Farm This August: Discover Where Your Food Comes From in Saskatchewan

The Feed > Visit a Farm This August: Discover Where Your Food Comes From in Saskatchewan

At Farm to Fork SK, we help you connect with local food – and this August, you’re invited to see where it all begins.

On August 9 & 10, 2025, Saskatchewan Open Farm Days returns. It’s a province-wide invitation to step onto real, working farms and learn how food is grown, raised, and harvested right here in our province.

Whether you’re curious about farming, looking for a unique family outing, or just want to support local producers, this is the perfect weekend to explore rural Saskatchewan.

Why Visit a Farm?

Most of us enjoy local food without ever seeing the journey it takes to get to our table. Open Farm Days offers a rare look behind the scenes – bringing you face-to-face with the producers, animals, and land behind every meal.

You’ll have the chance to:

  • See how crops are planted, grown, and harvested
  • Meet the farmers who grow your food
  • Learn about rural life and sustainable agriculture
  • Experience hands-on activities and tours
  • Explore Saskatchewan’s rich farming heritage

It’s more than just a day trip – it’s an opportunity to understand the deep connection between our communities and the food we eat.

Helpful Tips Before You Go

  • Dress for the farm: sturdy shoes, sun protection, and layers
  • Bring water and snacks
  • Be respectful: These are working farms, not petting zoos
  • Ask questions—farmers love to share their work!

A Weekend for the Whole Family

Open Farm Days is especially great for kids. They’ll love seeing animals, climbing on tractors, and learning how their food is grown. It’s the kind of screen-free, real-world learning that sticks.

And for parents, it’s a great way to spark conversations and create lasting memories—while supporting Saskatchewan’s farm families.

Don’t Miss It

Saskatchewan Open Farm Days is your chance to connect with where your food comes from, meet the people behind it, and experience rural life in a meaningful way.

Mark your calendar, tag your road trip crew, and make a plan to visit a farm (or three!) this August.
